About Debbie

I’m Debbie Vernon, the person behind In a Pickle.

I’ve spent more than three decades working in accounting and running my own businesses, so I understand financial management from both sides of the desk.

My speciality is finding out why the numbers don’t add up, untangling complicated accounting problems and helping business owners regain confidence in their financial information.

Having run my own businesses, I know that accounting isn’t simply about producing reports or balancing figures. It’s about understanding what’s happening behind those numbers and how they affect the business.

Over the years, I’ve helped clients bring overdue accounts up to date, resolve complicated reconciliations, identify errors and put their financial records back on a reliable footing.

I enjoy the investigative side of accounting. Give me a set of figures that doesn’t make sense, and I’ll keep digging until I understand why.

I believe in doing things properly, taking responsibility for my work and paying attention to the details that others sometimes overlook.

I work directly with my clients, taking the time to understand their businesses and explain what the figures are telling us. My aim isn’t simply to correct a problem, but to help prevent it from happening again.

After all these years, there’s still nothing quite as satisfying as finding that elusive difference and finally getting the accounts to balance!
